Creative Expression for Children & Young Adults
Creative Expression for young children of pre-school, primary and secondary school ages focuses on encouraging authentic expression, emotional intelligence, body awareness and self-confidence within children and yound adults through yoga, meditation, creative exercises, music, song, movement improvisation and dance.
Mental health and wellbeing is becoming more of a priority within workplaces and school environments- this program actively tailors to creating healthy personal awareness, positive self-regard and confidence to authentically express and be true to one's Self. As a life coach, holistic therapist, yoga teacher and dance artist, Laura combines many elements to make a well-rounded holistic experience exploring all levels of wellbeing, physical, mental and emotional.
Programme Elements
Each class is 60 minutes long and brings children through a range of creative practices to build their personal awareness of themselves, how they feel, how there body is, how it moves and their interaction with others around them.
Each class begins with guided Yoga movements, followed by dance improvisation where the children are encouraged to express how they feel through their dance or tell a story through their body movement.
They learn about different qualities of experience through guided movement practices and creative games where they embody characteristics of nature (wind, fire, water) and explore characteristics such as strength, confidence, sensitivity, friendship, support and trust.
Each class has a sharing circle where each child has a chance to share a story, dance or song where we learn to actively listen and support our friends and participate together.
The children learn different meditation and breathing techniques to restore balance and calm in their bodies. These tools empower the children to check how they are feeling and use techniques they have learnt to help themselves calm-down, relieve any worries or busy thoughts, go to sleep more easily or to be more patient with their teachers, friends and family.
At the end of the class there is a guided relaxation where each child sits or lies down with a cushion and blanket relaxing their minds and bodies to allow them to rest, absorb new learning, calm their nervous system and become more sensitive to their body.
